Hi Nature Love, *welcome* I am in the SB, too (Silicon Valley, I am assuming). I was thinking of trying this one: www.criticalpathcounseling.com/ I am already paying out of pocket to see another one for me (which my X abandoned me to... .I am still going). He is very good, but the one I referenced above seems to specialize in what you are looking for, and may help with your daughter, and you. BPD is a list of behaviors, some of which people exhibit but may not be BPD. The BP diagnosis (with BPD traits) may be a tough one, as it seems to count on medication in addition to counseling. We can't force pills down our loved one's throats, can we... .How aware is your daughter of her diagnoses, and is she at all committed to getting better? Are there any other family members available to support you? In reference to your earlier introductory post... .may I ask how long you and your family have been dealing with these issues with your daughter? It must be very hard to see a family member go through what your daughter is going through. Unlike a lot of us with partners, we can't really separate from our children. Have you checked out the other boards here regarding communication skills that may help? The parenting board, whose senior members have or are going through similar issues as you, is probably the place to post more specific questions, or just if you need to "vent." Parenting a son or daughter suffering from BPD board (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?board=4.0) If you haven't already found it, here is a good intro on DBT: The basic principles behind Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (https://bpdfamily.blogspot.com/2011/04/untangling-internal-struggles-of.html) I encourage you to post more. The more you do, the more we can help direct you to the appropriate resources and also offer you any support that you need, as that is why we are all here! Welcome again, and we look forward to hearing more of your story and helping you as best that we can. It looks good and I will contact them.
It has been a hellish nightmare. I am in day three of my daughter screaming, crying, yelling and threatening me. I am the object of her rage. She has body dysmorphia issues and blames me for her body. BTW, she is truly beautiful. She was a rock solid great kid. In hindsight there were signs of this two years ago but very subtle. The problem escalated at the beginning of the year. By April she was under psychiatric care. Her episodes appear to be getting worse but the duration of some what normalcy between episodes is longer. She does has a wonderful SF that has been of great support to both my daughter and myself. It is heart breaking to see her in so much pain and to be on the receiving end of the rage. I am scared at a multitude of levels. She is very motivated to get better when she is in a rational state. Thank you again. I will check out the boards with parents with BPD children.
