Title: Day 1 of my NC... well, it could have been Post by: frag1911 on November 11, 2013, 06:36:40 PM Well, I had planned a decent Veterans Day for myself, then realized there were a couple of things I needed to take care of and hoped those places were open today.
First to the apartment office to find out what they know. The BPDex had dropped off her key with no explanation, and manager was ready to come by to see what kind of mess was left since the lease isn't up (their usual experience). I explained the situation. They will not admit her to the apartment without my being present. They know I've changed the locks, and I gave them a copy of the key and the old lockset and key. I also told to the manager (very nice looking young lady) that my ex hated for me to pay the rent because of her jealousy. "Wow, sorry I was such a threat to her." lol Next, to the cell phone company to check that everything that I had done to disconnect her from my account had been done on that front, or deal with what might need done. Sure enough, payments for her cell phone are still on my account and can't be transferred. Everything else is done. I got a statement and left. I went to the gym and cancelled her membership, because I'm paying for it. That's a done, but too late for the next month's payment. No big deal, I'll live with it. Went to the storage facility and changed the pass code, and the manager is now aware that there is an issue. The ex doesn't have anything there, but I don't want her to get in there anyway. I may end up moving all of that stuff to the apartment anyway, since I now have so much more room than I did before, and won't have storage rent to pay. So unfortunately I had to contact the ex to inform her she owes me money and why. It was short but polite. Of course she questioned why she should owe $200 for her phone. Well, we've only had the phones for 2 months and they aren't paid off; that seems like a reasonable answer. Nope, she's going to go to the company store and find out why. I'm sure she's going to find that there's no balance on her account (I didn't say there was of course, the balance is on my account) and then call me a liar again. So I had hoped that I wouldn't have to contact her for anything, at least this early after the break up, but I didn't get my way. I'm not crying about it of course. My days will come. Actually better to do what you are doing and get everything that may need to be handled out of the way so there won't be anything that comes up later while you are really processing the end of the relationship.
Do what ya gotta do - and then adios! Sounds like you are handling things pretty well.
