Title: Triggered after seeing replacement
Post by: goodguy on November 25, 2013, 03:41:39 PM
Hey guys,

I'm one year out of an 8-month BPD relationship. I had been doing really well - I still think of the (diagnosed) BPDexgf every day, but more in passing and not constantly fixated on her. It really helps that I live in a different city and so I don't have to see her. I've also had a couple casual relationships/flings that have helped.

But, this weekend, I was at a college reunion event and saw my exBPD's friends walking and talking with my replacement (who she cheated on me with). I saw them less than 30 seconds but it was enough to bring back the memories and start thinking "oh, they're probably still together... ." etc. It really put a damper on the weekend and its left me feeling like the scabs have been ripped off. Is this normal?

I'm disappointed in myself because I thought I was totally over it. I guess I still have a strong reaction when confronting triggers. Do you guys have any thoughts? Is this just a temporary result from seeing them?

Just remember it will NOT last.

Your rational mind knows this. You are using the part of your head that was traumatized by her during your relationship.

We all falter.  Do you believe in law of attraction. Affirm positive thoughts. It really helps. Don't be envious of another dude's pain... .

because it will happen... .
