Title: Heads Up Everyone - Holiday Season Is Nigh
Post by: Mono No Aware on November 27, 2013, 12:50:29 PM
Yay a thread without (ahem, too much) personal venting and ranting!

I just want to give a couple shouts out to everyone here of 1) encouragement and 2) warning to keep on your toes.

Encouragement: Read the Lessons! I'm wasting lots of work hours on the Lessons today, fortunately it's slow. Keep your chins up, don't let yourself fall into the black pit of despair, you can do this! This emotionally, physically, and spiritually draining work of Validation, SET-UP, DEARMAN, not JADE-ing, Setting and Enforcing Boundaries, and above all loving them despite their inability to love you back properly. Hang in there you are NOT alone!

Warning: Y'all know that the holidays are a huge source of Family Baggage Time, concerning both your in-laws who probably gave your mate a f@cked-up childhood in the first place and your family who are now the undeserving targets of your mate's dysregulated BPD wrath.

It's going to happen. The stress of the cooking, the cleaning, the shopping, the children underfoot instead of in school, the bad weather, the travel, the financial crunch, the discord of the fake happiness shouted at us from mass-media and the jealously of the real happiness of people who don't suffer from mental disorders, and above all the phantasm of Family Baggage that is always hanging over their poor heads will combine into a perfect storm or two and we Nons are going to experience some severe dysregulation turbulence.

I do not know how I survived last Christmas. I didn't even know about BPD back then. I just bobbed and weaved as best I could and tried to get the kid away from her. This year I am ready for it.

Thank you for this post.  It made me giggle (after crying) and feel not so alone.  I can't wait until January:)

I can't believe I read what I think on here and I didn't even type it.  Thankful moment.
