Title: A quote that REALLY speaks to me.
Post by: nevermore on December 05, 2013, 09:13:21 AM

Quien nos quita lo bailado! The translation is "You cannot take away from me the dances I have danced."  This hits home with me because my BPD mother tries to rewrite not only her history but mine as well.  As the adult child of a BPD it is important to remember WE OWN OUR PAST.  No one can take away the dances we have danced. |iiii

Absolutely! My dBPD sis rewrites history according to how she feels that day. But I know what I have done--and not done-- and she can't take it away.

Ditto.

If you put my mother's life story and my life story side by side they would be totally different. She was the long suffering mother, I was the abusive daughter.

Often, I wonder if my mother is on "the other side" poisoning minds over there. When it's my time to go, will I be met by a whole bunch of family members who absolutely hate me.

Don't think that I don't think about this from time to time.

Indeed.  My BPD sis and reality haven't been in the same room in years. There are times when she'll be relating a historical story and I don't even recognize it.  LOL

That's a great quote. And I've been guilty of letting my uBPD sister take away my dances from me. I still am in that horrible rage and grief stage of it all and still get really really angry when she pontificates about her view of reality (her the sad victim the rest of the family the terrible ogres   ).

In future I shall think of this quote and try not to let her get to me. Thanks.

This hit home with me. Half the time I worry more about what the random people think than what my dad thinks. I'm sure he's poisoned more than few minds against me because I'm not there to defend myself. Happy to move past that though, and not have to defend myself as a good person any longer... .at least to anyone I give a crap about.
