Title: Hi everyone
Post by: #lostmysoul on December 06, 2013, 04:58:50 PM

I am the mother of a newly diagnosed BPD/ APD girl. It has taken me 16 years of banging on doors and one very observant doc to get a referral to a professor who made the diagnosis.

Every single healthcare professional has been duped and caught in her elaborate web of deceit and tbh I take my hat off to her in one way for her cleverness but that aside it's been a heart wrenching, soul destroying journey for me and my family. I wanted to join a help group such as this to gather advice and support for the trials that lay ahead. My girl is nearly 17 (the professor said she cannot officially diagnose her until she is 18) and I'm worried that things are going to get a whole lot worse.

lostmysoul,

*welcome*  I am glad that you found us here at bpdfamily!  The good news is that your daughter is still young, and her chances for recovery are higher.

Do you have other children?  If so, what is her relationship like with siblings?

What is the treatment plan for your daughter?

We do have a wealth of information here on this site.  We can start off with a few links.  Here is a good video for adolescents with BPD:  Video--Adolescence and Borderline Personality Disorder (https://bpdfamily.blogspot.com/2013/05/bpdfamily.html)

Validation really helps with my adult daughter.  Here is a link:

Please let us know how we can best support you.  We are here for you!
