Title: New Year's
Post by: arn131arn on December 23, 2013, 01:50:49 AM
Since I spent the last 30 minutes crying like a baby after reading the ENTIRE cheating thread, I thought it may be a good idea to discuss some resolutions this new year we can make to ourselves and each other.

What do you plan on doing this upcoming year to better yourself, your life and your spirit.

Here are mine:

1.) I'm gonna be the best damn dad I can be.

2.) I will continue NC and not deviate one bit

3.) I will eat right and get back into shape

4.) I will do another triathalon

5.) Dust off the guitar in the attic and start a Steve Earle cover band. (no s**t)

6.) I will stay sober one day at a time

7.) sell my house and get out of debt

8.) Move 60 miles away, start a new life, and finish school

9.) Start gathering information on how to get the false judgements on DV expunged from my record

10.) Commit to once a week with my P to begin healing

Thank to everyone on here the past week.  I love how ya'll haven't told me that ya'll are tired of hearing me.  When I leave the keyboard, I can't wait to just get back

Arn,

Congrats on setting so many goals for the new year.  I hope you are able to meet most or all.  I'd suggest you think about the NC goal only in terms of how to resurrect it if you do deviate one bit.  Such restricted goals can become easy to abandon if you ever fall short, even momentarily.  Not that I don't support complete NC as a goal or a practice,  just thinking about the psychology of goals in general.

My own goals include:

- resuming the fitness program I followed consistently before meeting BPDexgf

- attending at least 3 meetup (or similar) events before Mar 1,

- committing to weekly sessions with my T, and

- packing/moving by May 1 (not living with ex, but want to get into a completely different part of the city to minimize incidental contact and build new memories/routines).

Good luck to you - we are here to offer support!
