Title: Make a timeline of the relationship
Post by: santa on January 04, 2014, 11:14:20 AM
I was having some feelings for my ex last night and this morning I was disappointed in myself for it.

For whatever reason, I decided to make a timeline of the relationship. It's pretty obvious from it that starting about 3 months in, it was basically a disaster.

It really helped me put things into perspective.

Try it. I think I benefited from it.

Furthermore, what I think it accomplished is that it helped me to see that even though a lot of good times were had and there were some great moments, that it was in the midst of huge clouds of bad things. I think that is what I gained from it. When you put the "good times" in the context of a timeline, it really helps you to see what kind of other things were going on when you were "enjoying" the relationship.
