Title: Book recommendation on bullying..give me one please :) Post by: musicfan42 on February 04, 2014, 05:33:35 PM I've been reading up on bullying. I feel that it's linked to domestic abuse.
Does anyone have good recommendations for books on bullying and how to deal with it? Thanks! Title: Re: Book recommendation on bullying..give me one please :) Post by: pilgrim on February 07, 2014, 12:34:14 AM China Boy, a novel by Gus Lee, taught me more about how to deal with bullying than any other source.
Wish I knew it as a kid. Title: Re: Book recommendation on bullying..give me one please :) Post by: Moonie75 on February 08, 2014, 09:42:49 PM I don't think bullying is 'linked to abuse'.
IT IS ABUSE IN ITSELF! End of! Title: Re: Book recommendation on bullying..give me one please :) Post by: musicfan42 on February 09, 2014, 08:18:41 AM I don't think bullying is 'linked to abuse'. IT IS ABUSE IN ITSELF! End of! Yes, I know that Moonie75. Domestic abuse is a specific type of bullying/abuse that occurs in a romantic relationship whereby one party systematically abuses the other party. However, there are other types of bullying/abuse such as workplace bullying, bullying in schools etc. I would like books dealing with all types of bullying (including domestic abuse) and tips on how to deal with it. So if you have a book/article recommendation, please let me know. Thanks for the book recommendation Pilgrim-appreciate it! Title: Re: Book recommendation on bullying..give me one please :) Post by: GreenMango on February 09, 2014, 06:59:30 PM Boundaries By Henry Cloud PhD, John Townsend PhD (http://images.barnesandnoble.com/images/64010000/64011593.JPG) Book Description Many people have drawn overly flexible boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) (unwilling to say no, always accommodating others' needs) or overly rigid boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) (to the point of being righteous and judgmental). Psychologists and inspirational speakers Cloud and Townsend show readers how to set reasonable boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) in order to follow the true path of Christianity. This book has become immensely popular, most likely because it makes personal boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) easier to define and is filled with spiritual purpose. Some cautions: the format can be overly self-helpish for such a complex discussion and the authors at one point imply that judicious spankings may be an acceptable form of setting boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) with children. Having clear boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) is essential to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. A boundary (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) is a personal property line that marks those things for which we are responsible. In other words, boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) define who we are and who we are not. Boundaries impact all areas of our lives: Physical boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) help us determine who may touch us, mental boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) give us the freedom to have our own thoughts, emotional boundaries (https://bpdfamily.com/content/values-and-boundaries) help us to deal with our own emotions.
