Title: Beach Thoughts Post by: Lucky Jim on March 12, 2014, 01:48:43 PM Friends, I was walking on the beach last weekend and had two thoughts: 1. Maybe my life is OK, just the way it is, without the need to change anything; and 2. Maybe I can accept myself, just as I am, with all my positive and negative qualities. Afterwards, I felt better, so thought I would share with the Board. Lucky Jim Title: Re: Beach Thoughts Post by: LettingGo14 on March 12, 2014, 04:04:34 PM LuckyJim,
Those are great thoughts. I think, honestly, you hit the nail on the head. If I can paraphrase my understanding of Buddhist thinking and its result: 1. unconditional self-acceptance 2. unconditional other-acceptance 3. unconditional life-acceptance Thanks for sharing. I want to get there. Title: Re: Beach Thoughts Post by: seeking balance on March 12, 2014, 04:50:15 PM The beach does help these thoughts don't they? Beach or hiking certainly brings peace and acceptance into my world too.
Thank you for sharing. SB Title: Re: Beach Thoughts Post by: Lucky Jim on March 14, 2014, 11:29:08 AM Thanks, LettingGo. I guess two out of three ain't bad! Particularly for someone unfamiliar with Buddhism. And thanks, SB. Walking on the beach seems to "free up" my right brain, which allows me to see things from an expansive point of view. Looking out at the ocean helps, too. LuckyJim Title: Re: Beach Thoughts Post by: heartandwhole on March 14, 2014, 02:41:05 PM Friends, I was walking on the beach last weekend and had two thoughts: 1.
