Title: What should I share with her family Post by: Narrow Gate on March 22, 2014, 12:27:59 PM My uBPDw(I think) talks to her sister almost every day. I overhear her paint me black to her sister with half truths to all out lies. Not sure if I should share my unprofesional opinion with the sister and Doc Father about my BPD thoughts. Her dad the Doc. is without a dought the smartest man i know. Unfourtunetly he could not keep the BPD talk to himself. The sister might see my BPD thought as self-serving. Searching through my reasoning for sharing the topic is where my cautions begin. Will it help her, me, or anyone?

My uBPDw(I think) talks to her sister almost every day. Good question. Most likely it will backfire but then every situation is different. I would suggest you keep your thoughts for yourself for the time being until you fully understand the situation. Right now it would just plant another seed for major drama that will start growing at a time out of your control. Besides all your valid concerns also keep in mind that such behavior often runs in families but can be well hidden from the outside to which you may well still belong. If you get in situations where you feel you have to say something stick to moody, emotional, upset and irritated and concrete behavior. Particularly the term BPD can be helpful in that it leads to a target treatment but to most people can come across as negative and judgmental. Right now the board may be the best place to share and seek understanding. Some members also employ a professional therapist to help them dealing with a difficult situation. |
