Title: Group Therapy in Long Island? Post by: Cushy on April 04, 2014, 08:33:32 AM Does anyone know of a group therapy program for young adults in Long Island?

Behavioral Health Unit. Many programs and clinical research trials available. They did have DBT therapy available, but dd deliberately sabotaged that opportunity.
They are, however, the best around here, in my experience. When I was calling all over for help, they were the ones that actively helped finding resources and different programs for dd... . which as you know is not easy, despite being near a big city. Good luck. llbee Title: Re: Group Therapy in Long Island? Post by: griz on April 04, 2014, 11:01:49 AM There is an excellent program at the CCDBT center in Lake Success. My DD attended there and still continues with individual therapy at this center. They do not take insurance, however they are worth every penny.

We attended CCDBT a few years ago and the program there is great. Financially, though, it was hard. I finally had to find a therapist that accepted our coverage and my daughter does like her. As for the Zucker Hillside Hospital, I just got off the phone with them and their dbt thereapy is booked for a few months. I will keep trying.

Don't know if this will help but if your insurance company does not have someone in their plan who is certified in DBT Therapy (legally certified) they have to pay for the services as if they were on your plan. It is a big fight and they do everything they can to tell you that they do not have to pay, however when you tell them you are going to report them to the NYS Insurance Department they become most helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to post here.

Post by: femom on April 04, 2014, 07:20:21 PM Columbia Presp. has a day program for college age students and young adults at their mid-town location in the city. I'm not sure how much is covered by insurance, but they had groups with different focuses and it seemed like a good program. I live on Long Island too :)
