Title: The full moon Post by: Washisheart on April 18, 2014, 12:36:12 AM Anyone else's SO effected by full moons/ new moons?
I have actually (a while ago) established a pattern that if he can work me to the point I can actually say "I hate you" that it's a full moon. And it has time and time again held true. I know working in healthcare, all of our difficult patients seem to pop up and shows their a--es, so I guess it only makes sense that those who live with somebody already difficult to handle experience the same. And it's the craziest thing in my house because he thinks he's right, then once he actually SEES the moon he'll usually send me a picture if the moon along with an explanation of that's why he was being such a _____ (insert choice word here). And after he makes the connection, he actually calms down and is fine. I'm sure there are hundreds of explanations that make sense (or not ) which ones sound plausible to you ? Title: Re: The full moon Post by: ziniztar on April 18, 2014, 08:42:49 AM I know my father believes in this very strongly. He even had a moon calendar when we were growing up. His theory: if the moon can shift the ocean every 6 hours, why on earth would it not affect anything else? It's a type of energy that life on earth is influenced by.
I'm not too sure about this. Maybe your period is linear to the moon cycle? (just a sober thought, I don't mean to offend you). I've been forced to believe this kind of stuff for a long time and I'm slowly moving away from it and becoming more science-oriented. My brother used to say that whenever he sees the moon he feels like our mom is with us (she passed away >20 years ago). I think we should all believe what we want to believe... because that is what makes us feel safe and happy. Title: Re: The full moon Post by: ziniztar on April 18, 2014, 05:52:38 PM Apologies again if that came across wrong, I didn't mean to. All I know is that sometimes I forget it's coming up which makes me react even more dramatic to normal issues. I can panic over something he does which I make seem bigger than it is - I panic about my reaction and whether I am able to put up with it all - and then a few days later I think 'wait... . this was also an ingredient... maybe I blew up the issue myself.
Then again I don't know the issues you're dealing with, mine can be little things about Ben & Jerry jars or texts that take too long so then it's easy to see that it was me that was overreacting. Title: Re: The full moon Post by: Sugarlily on April 21, 2014, 02:32:05 PM Interesting to come back from holiday with my bf to see this. For the first few days he was worrying about the red moon coming up and how it might affect the world. He has been improving consistently since having therapy and being given medication. Suddenly the BPD behaviours were back in full force, they coincided with him noticing an almost full moon had appeared while playing evening golf. Tuesday we had the worst argument in a long time resulting in him wanting just be friends and for me to find someone who could make me happy. Went for a walk together and he blamed all his behaviour on the red moon which he said was affecting our relationship. Once we went out and saw the moon wasn't red, as it could not be seen in the UK he calmed down. For the rest of the holiday he was calm and happy again. So maybe there is something in it. At least I am not alone in the experience.
