Title: Has anyone written THIS type of book? Post by: sparrowfarfrom home on May 30, 2014, 09:06:02 AM I like this quote: from A.J. Mahari : "What is in the way - is the way. If you have Borderline Personality Disorder it is the fundamental absence of a known self that sits at the very core of your pain, anger, and your rage. It is your rage that stands between your borderline pain and suffering and your recovery. Your lack of a known and defined self is what is in your way."
When I read it I wondered if there is a very gently worded resource (article, e book, book etc) which is designed with the uBPD in mind. A pwBP who may have a moment of time when the pain is too much for them and they are wanting/screaming for help. Now I have never seen a vulnerable moment in my sister... . my mom did actually try to see therapists for her pain. But if that moment should ever come- is there something specifically targeted to how a BP listens, processes information and yet also really gets to the heart in a gentle yet concrete way that BPD is the actual enemy? Just wondering... . Title: Re: Has anyone written THIS type of book? Post by: PleaseValidate on May 31, 2014, 04:44:46 AM I think the Linehan books do this somewhat. Yet they are not very gentle IMHO. They are very black and white which *should* follow the logic of the BPD person, but not if s/he is unwilling to hear it.
Although they are widely used and accepted among professionals (or so i hear), I think more BPD patients would accept them if it was more widely known that Linehan herself also has (or had) BPD. We do have some resources for people with BPD: Resources for people with BPD (https://goo.gl/Fg5HBy) There is also a site called DBT Self Help that might be interesting for your BPD relatives if they ever wanted to get help. Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT) has been proven to be effective for certain people with BPD and the interesting thing about this website is that it was written primarily by people who have been through DBT themselves and not by DBT professionals: DBT Self Help (http://www.dbtselfhelp.com/) There are also some online forums for people with BPD, this is one of them: Forum for people with BPD (http://www.forums.psychcentral.com/borderline-personality-disorder/) |
