Title: Going home...
Post by: mstnghu on July 02, 2014, 06:31:57 PM
I've just started posting on this board today and this is something I think many significant others of BPDs will be able to understand. My work day is nearing an end. I dread going home! I never know who I'm going home to. I get along all day with my co-workers and even among the normal work-day stress, I still feel calm and in control. My day at work has been drama-free. When 5:30pm rolls around though, I'm already thinking about getting through the evening tonight and getting to bed and waking up the next day to go to work and GET AWAY.

I know what you are saying. I am also impressed by our office admin. She has organized our company outing, coordinate with many people and outside vendors, recruited help, make sure the schedule work for everybody's the best it can. We all end up having a good time.

My wife gets super stress out for organizing something like a birthday party. It is just unbearable the way she handle things.

I can completely relate. Prior to meeting my wife, I owned a condo with a friend of mine. We used to throw parties there every couple of months and not your typical frat party type. We actually put a lot of time and effort into them and had a great time having all our friends over. We always had fun doing it.

Then when my wife (gf at the time) came along and the first time I saw her plan a dinner for us and two of her best friends... .the s**t hit the fan! I've never seen somebody so completely frantic and out of her mind over planning something as simple as having friends over for dinner! A couple of years ago we threw a Christmas party at our house and even a couple of hours before the party I thought she was going to have a complete mental break down. She was literally getting ready to call all of our invited guests and say the party was cancelled. What really pisses me off the most too is that she drags me into this chaos and by the time guests show up, I'm almost as frazzled as her.  As if her being a basket case isn't enough, she also becomes almost belligerent and nasty in the way she barks orders at me to help her. It's almost completely unbearable to be anywhere around her when she's in this frame of mind.

Allen,

I hear you completely.  I used to find myself calling later in the day to try to gauge what the situation was going to be when I got there.  If I got vm or the all too familiar 'short answers' I knew what was coming... .

I am sure that the anxiety and stress has taken years of my life.
