Title: Is the patient recovering?
Post by: calmboom on July 15, 2014, 06:51:17 PM
Ooo I have to admit this evening was a bit tough.

7 days since the big meltdown and not a word from uBPD BF since.  I thought I might hear something after the symbolic 1 week of silence mark was passed.

I liken waiting during silent treatment to waiting in a surgical hospital waiting room holding vigil. Trying to occupy time while the minutes and hours tick by.

Wanting to peek in the operating room but knowing I'm not allowed. Having no idea how its going. Not wanting to derail progress for fear of upsetting the delicate operation within.

Wanting to ask anybody, how's the XX, how's the surgery going? Will it be over soon?

Will they recover? What's the prognosis?  Can I see him? When I can I see him? So much wonder.

And then realizing I don't have to be in the "hospital" at all.

When people at work ask me, how's BF.  I have no idea what to say. Default has been to smile and say oh I haven't seen him around today.  Pondered calling his mom. Didn't. Pondered txting his friend. Didn't.  I almost drove over his place this evening. Talked myself down. Grabbed the keys a couple times.  The mind is a sneaky thing looking to satisfy its wonder when its best to go about the day.

I'm sorry that you had a difficult evening and a likely a long week after his blow-up   Awkward moments with family and friends trying to explain or not explain the SO's behaviors and why they act the way that they do. It's a hard position to be in and you don't always know what to say. If your not in the "hospital" at all for now, be in the moment and find something for yourself, mindfulness. I hope your evening goes smoother.
