Title: On my way to the doctor. What to say? Post by: Karmachameleon on July 17, 2014, 09:39:34 AM I'm headed to see my doctor to get a referral for a therapist. I know she won't need my whole life story, but I'm trying to get clear in my head what to say and what information she will need. I'm wondering if she will want me on some sort of medicine. My mom wants me on Zoloft. I'm scared of meds. Any advice on what the most important information is for my doctor to know? I'm afraid I'll say the wrong thing or not say something I should say or mislead her in some way. Sorry. Rambling. Nervous.

For some reason, we tend to think our situation is unique, but usually it falls into a category that the doctor (or therapist) has seen before. LuckyJim
Title: Re: On my way to the doctor. What to say? Post by: Karmachameleon on July 17, 2014, 03:45:57 PM Thanks, you guys! It actually went really well and I feel pretty good about it. I was afraid I was going to be a blubbering mess because I have been crying for 3 days straight, but I was able to articulate my feelings and explain my situation. She was very nice and understanding. She is sending me to see a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist and gave me a prescription for the lowest possible dose of Seroquel. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to take it. I need to do some research first. Thanks again.
Title: Re: On my way to the doctor. What to say? Post by: Aussie JJ on July 18, 2014, 02:41:38 AM I am on low anti depresants... .
TAKE THEM They helped slow me down and pick me up. I probably don't need them anymore but I am not getting off them. A good friend of mine basically said they are not going to do any harm while getting better but may make me go backwards before I get to finish. Make sure if you smoke you don't take champix... .major depresant... . when I quite and was using champix I got worse instantly. Title: Re: On my way to the doctor. What to say? Post by: Karmachameleon on July 18, 2014, 09:55:44 AM I had actually quit smoking and started a little bit again since this whole fiasco. I know I will quit again. Honestly, my real problem is drinking at night. This medicine says you can't at all. I am a bartender. Also, I read horror stories about weight gain and I just can not deal with that at all. Clearly I have issues unrelated to my BPDex. But acknowledging them is the first step, I guess. I want to get better.
