Title: Looking for an understanding of NPD
Post by: Heartandsole on July 30, 2014, 01:32:01 PM
I am looking for resources to understand the interaction of Narcissistic Personality Disorder and the nuances of how that interacts with BPD.  I am sure there are some good resources here on the forum or online and would love someone to point me in the right direction.  Thanks.

Does NPD generally have the same bleak prognosis for change as the BPD?

Hello Heartandsole, I assume you are referring to your stbxw's behaviors. We do have some  resources here:

What is the relationship between BPD and narcissism (NPD)?  (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=90388.0)

TOOLS: Family systems--understanding the narcissistic family (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=108970.0)

If your wife has stronger narcissistic traits, this may help you in dealing with her through the divorce:

Dealing with narcissists by reinforcing the positive (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=120342.0)

While NPD and BPD behaviors can certainly exist together, many pwBPD exhibit highly narcissistic traits. I hope the resources help.
