Title: Do you ever feel like a single parent but you're not?
Post by: Klarity Kwest on August 09, 2014, 02:39:02 PM
I live with my boyfriend an our two young children. We are not married and probably will never get married. But we live with our children and we are trying to raise them as a family of some sort.

A lot of the time I feel like I'm a single parent. I am very lucky that he works and is able to support us financially. It is an unstable situation but we get by.

But because of his emotional unavailability and instability I frequently feel that I am raising these boys alone. I'm just wondering if anyone else feels this way?

Yep, there are time when my dBPDw checks out and I feel like a single parent. I have to attend most kid events because she won't and I don't want the kid without a parent.

Worse than that, there are times when she actively interferes with me parenting and setting limits, which is worse than being a single parent.

To be completely fair, there are also times when she does great stuff for my kids and gives me insight into parenting mistakes I've made.
