Title: A Funny...
Post by: SpringInMyStep on August 12, 2014, 10:53:34 AM
So all of my friends and some of my co-workers (there's overlap) knew my wife wasn't good for me and it's kinda funny to hear what they say now that they know we're not together.

Yesterday I told this woman who was on vacation when this happened and she blurted out "Good! It's about time!"  lol

It is good to receive validation & support.   Thank you for sharing.   This is the journey we have together -- we ensure none of us feels alone or lost.

Keep posting.  It helps us all.

I can't tell you how many people have said similar things to me.  It feels so alone during the relationship, but really many people see it and pull for us.

Yeah I've read posts from some people who said no one else knew about their spouse's mental illness and they felt they couldn't tell them. Oddly enough, I did mention her multiple personalities and PTSD to all who knew me (and some of them have met her) so they did know something was up. They also saw me come into work every day looking tired from lack of sleep because I was up all night comforting my wife because she was "triggered" or scared, they saw me come in late or leave early or miss entire days, I actually took a week of FMLA once when my wife took a bunch of pills. She refused to go to the hospital because she knew they'd commit her, so I made her vomit, then made her drink coffee and stay awake till we felt the danger had passed. It was so crazy!

I'm also blown away by how many people are going through the same things I have. No one really understands the craziness unless they've gone through it, so I really do appreciate this board.  :)

Sometimes I find it a little hurtful when people say things like, "Well, it's about time! Why'd you STAY with him for so long? We were all starting to wonder what was wrong with you!"

Other times people say things like, "Well, he didn't deserve you. He was an idiot and everyone knew it. He'll be crying tears of blood the day he realizes what he's lost, because if he thinks he's going to do any better than you, he'll have to search far and wide!"

I'm not sure any woman would put up with him for longer than I have. In fact, I think he's worse now than ever before.
