Title: BPDgf behaviour around my young daughter Post by: Flora73 on August 20, 2014, 03:44:02 PM Dear All,
I need a little help / advice. I have a daughter 8 and my BPD partner does not have children (She did not want kids as she has issues with herself and whether she would have been a good parent as she has some understandings of her illness) However when ever I have my daughter she has mood swings, maybe because she feels she isn't the centre of attention? If she feels left out she will say random things out of the blue i.e. I went for a red in a Porsche racing car... .When she actually dent like cars... .or Some one tried to pick me up and gave me his business card. Anyway I give both my daughter and her a lot of attention, can some one let me know if having my daughter around in anyway invalidates her? Or something else. Would love some help on this! Even a child. Even your daughter. Your partner with BPD will believe the Love and interest you show your daughter is "taking away" from her. It may become worse as she becomes older.
Hopefully there are some more experienced members here that can offer practical advice and tools to minimise any harm to your daughter or your relationship with your partner with BPD. Yes this was my suspicion and would welcome other peoples take. Again thank you! Title: Re: BPDgf behaviour around my young daughter Post by: Flora73 on August 20, 2014, 04:09:18 PM By the way it definitely got worse as the relationship has progressed.
My BPDgf does though show interest in my daughter and always has input into how I should raise her especially with my daughter feeling her feelings and expressing them... .I guess an awareness from her childhood of being shut down all the time and abused. |
