Title: Dealing with Excessive Spending
Post by: Second Birth on September 20, 2014, 08:29:33 AM
My husband and I have fundamental differences in how we handle money.  I believe in using credit for large ticket things like homes or vehicles, or for extreme emergencies.  He always spends money faster than it comes in, robs Peter to pay Paul, and builds up debt.  When we were younger, it was frustrting... .now that we are in our late 60's, it is terrifying because I know his debt is my debt, we are on a fixed income and we cannot recover from  financial calamity.  Is there anyone who has experienced this problem who has found a solution?  Agreements he and I have reached about spending are never honored.

Hi Second Birth

Its a very worrying thing, living with more and more debts!

its good to reach out for possible solutions against it.

For many members here this is a ongoing issue and its wise trying to find some solutions to prevent overspending.

Some members on the Staying board have found solutions with limits or different bank accounts.
