Title: So happy for progress
Post by: MissyM on September 26, 2014, 10:08:05 PM
Tonight my dBPDh was dysregulated after he had therapy. I tried to validate his feelings but he kept projecting them onto me.  I finally said I didn't want to have conversations like this, I am not responsible for how he feels and I do want to be supportive.   I then said that we had a few hours alone and I would like to enjoy our time together.  I asked him if he could deescalate and he said, yes he would use some distraction techniques.  It worked and we were able to turn things around and have a lovely evening!

Proud of myself for setting a boundary in a loving way and proud of him for responding in a loving way.  Really wouldn't have thought this was possible a few months ago!
