Title: eye of the storm with pregnant d16, now sd17 is imploding
Post by: SeaSprite on October 15, 2014, 05:56:32 PM

I've been away from the boards for a while, and wanted to pop in to say hello.

My d16 is still pregnant, still with the older bf, still living at home, still taking a couple of college classes. We are in the eye of the storm... .hoping for the best and preparing for the worst after baby comes. I can't believe the guy is still around, that she still thinks he's a good idea, that he hasn't run away.

I'm job hunting, both for the extra money and so that I won't be around all the time, I'd like to be working before the baby is born.  |iiii

I swear BPD is contagious- my dh's ex seems to have always had it. I think I'll call her patient zero. Sd24 has shown significant traits for the past few years. And now sd17 is imploding- panic attacks, suicide threats leading to the ER, her parents are horrible people. Her dad is terrible, her mom is worse. We don't' leave sd home alone, suicide watch.

We have two kids (one each) who so far seem immune, I hope it lasts!

Hi Seasprite,

Seems like a lot going on with your family right now, and that's got to be tough. I suppose I would see bps everywhere also if I were in your she's right now.

Wish there were some magic words I could say to make it all go away, but that's not realistic, so instead ill just you well, and send you a supportive hug. Remember to care for yourself and your own needs in all of this upheaval.

Thank you for the update, it's good to know your d17 is doing ok for now. You seem to be in good humor today.   :)

I swear BPD is contagious-

It's not uncommon for members to realize that there is more than one person w/BPD (or another PD, or PD traits) in their lives... .

The reason, however, isn't contagion but genetic pre-disposition within a family and also, if we had someone w/BPD in our family of origin, we may be attracted to a spouse who either has BPD or someone w/BPD or BPD traits in their family. I am not exactly sure why that is - but I have read somewhere that we are attracted to people with similar level of maturity and/or troubles in their lives - which would make sense.

Hi SeaSprite,

Thanks for the update. I've also been here quite a bit less lately.  (Just busy with nonBPD normal life stuff.)  I'm so sorry your H's ex and your stepD both seem to have BPD.  What a nightmare!

I also see BPD more frequently now. I suspect it's because now that I know what the traits are, I recognize what I'm seeing.  lol.

I hope you find a job soon. I'm grateful for mine because it gives me time away AND I get to experience myself as effectively using my skills with other people who appreciate me.  I need that to balance the drain I feel at home.  It will be good for you to get away and feel productive.  :)

Hang in there!
