Title: Hello I'm new. My sister has BPD Post by: sisters3 on October 26, 2014, 12:51:08 PM My sister who is 53 has had BPD for more than 35 years with little treatment. She would be homeless if I didn't take her in last month. She is very disruptive to my family because of her mental illness. Though she is on disability with SSDI she doesn't have a car so I have to drive her everywhere she needs to go. Most of her money goes to doctors and meds.

*welcome* I'm glad you found the site. It must be difficult to take your sister in and provide a place for her, plus drive her everywhere as you write in your post. Is the long-term plan for her to stay with you? It sounds like she is trying to cope in her own way, but that isn't making it any easier for her or for you. How are things going with the rest of your family? Keep posting. It really does help. People here care and understand. You're not alone. LnL Title: Re: Hello I'm new. Let me join LivedandLearned and welcome you here This is a place where we can share our stories and find support from people who have been in similar situations. It sounds like you are quite frustrated with the current state of affairs. What is is about her that makes her disruptive? You mentioned she has had BPD for 35 years. Was she professionally diagnosed? I'm including a link here. It is a forum or board where people with family members, siblings etc with BPD can post their experiences https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?board=7.0 I'm so glad you came to our site. It really is a place to be supported while we are going through this rollercoaster ride of BPD. Looking forward to hearing from you again |
