Title: DBT Experiences
Post by: lm1109 on November 07, 2014, 10:34:49 PM
Hi I posted about discipline the other day. One of the responses mentioned DBT. I read a lot about it and decided I'm going to do it. I'm just wondering if any of you who may have tried it could share anything. Was/is it effective for anyone? Thanks

I read Marsha Linehan's DBT workbook, which you can get on Amazon.  And though I have never taken a DBT class, I am seeing a new T that has DBT training and he has suggested I might.  The one thing I get a lot from with DBT is the concept of Mindfulness and this is something my T and I work with regularly.  A book about this that is really helpful is Jon Kabat-Zinn's "Full Catastrophe Living" - also on Amazon and you can find some of his videos if you search on his name on YouTUbe.

Good luck and please check back in to let us know how it is going... .
