Title: Other physical symptoms?
Post by: jedimaster on November 13, 2014, 12:05:19 AM
My uBPDw has had a couple of unusual behaviors besides BPD ones lately.  One, she suddenly seems more warm-natured than usual. Suddenly she's complaining about the heat and opening windows when it's cold outside.  She's had a complete hysterectomy, no ovaries, so it's not hormonal.

Two, she keeps complaining of things tasting burned or overcooked.  Today she made a delicious pasta sauce and kept saying it tasted burned.  The food comments are made in a perfectly normal manner, no BPD stuff going on.

Could there be something else going on here?  She has been in quite a state lately, just started speaking again after a week or so.

A bout of hyperthyroidism?

Even though she has undergone an ovariohystetectomy, she may still be having hormonal issues. There are multiple hormones at play here, and for feeling your best they need to be in balance. Estrogen (which is probably the most well known) along with progesterone and even testosterone (women need just a little compared to men). Even if she is getting hormone replacement, some of the hormone replacement options don't really take the whole package into account. Some of the popular drugs are kinda nasty in my humble opinion.

Thyroid can be an issue too, as the school of thought is changing quite a lot on what is actually a deficiency or excess. Typically, being cold the synptom for hypothyroid (which is way more common than hyper). But you can feel warm with hyper.

Anxiety can also cause one to feel hot.

Is she taking any meds? Not really talking about psych meds, but other stuff. There are some that make your taste buds off. Some oral anti-diabetic meds come to mind right off the bat, but there are others.
