Title: using drugs to escape his thoughts
Post by: dellianna on November 27, 2014, 11:15:01 AM
My boyfriend who is diagnosed with BPD generally every 2 weeks or so abuses prescription medication to apparently give himself a break from his anxiety. Mainly uses subutex or dehydracodine.  It's crazy!  Does anyone else have a simular experience as I'm finding it really hard to cope with. Just seems to spend 2 to 3 days on them and then 2 to 3 days recovering and he isn't nice while he is on them and makes me angry.

YES,YES, YES!

My BPDh used to combine Ambien and Flexaril with a large amount of alcohol. It either made him a very sloppy drunk or a raging a$$hole.

Very sorry that your bf is doing this.

My h is better with his substance abuse after some therapy, but the times he's gotten out of control has made me incredibly anxious and worried for his safety.
