Title: Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and lying about debt
Post by: Tim300 on January 05, 2015, 07:13:44 PM
Did anyone else pair up with a pwBPD who lied (by omission) about having massive amounts of debt (e.g., student loans)?  For example, you found out about 6 figures of debt after you were already committed in the relationship and even engaged or married?  And did the pwBPD demand to have a joint bank account with you or ask you to pay the loans?  This was my experience.  It really threw me off course and made me view the relationship somewhat like "It's a dog-eat-dog relationship."  I imagine that non-disordered people generally do not behave like this (i.e., omitting massive debt information).  I'm just curious about other's experiences.

Going forward, for dating, I subtly ask about debt on first dates.  In any event, I would not have a joint bank account unless I was married and there was rock-solid trust or even a showing of credit reports.
