Title: New here
Post by: Blithe on January 27, 2015, 05:53:17 PM
Hi,

I'm new here and new to the idea that my husband has BPD. I have been struggling with issues in our relationship and when I stumbled onto some information on BPD, suddenly everything fell into place. We're been married for 15 years. He has also been diagnosed with Bipolar II (which is characterized by treatment-recalcitrant depression). The most fraught issue is my independence and his desire for a totally merged relationship. He gets furious when I say I want to do something without him and accuses me of just wanting to get away from him. I stayed with him through 10 years of more-or-less intense depressive symptoms, including three years of nearly constant suicidality. Now that he's pulled out of the depression for the most part, I"m seeing BPD behavior. I'm really stressed and often feel like I've maxed out my caring/coping. I'm so glad to have found a place where people can understand.

Glad to be here... .

Welcome, Blithe. I deal with a wife who is officially dx as bipolar 2 by a psychiatrist and BPD by a couple therapists. Seems the two conditions are difficult to tell apart for even the professionals. You will find plenty of support and knowledge here. I know I have.

 *welcome*

Hi Blithe!

You are among people that understand your frustrations and have dealt with some of the same stuff. I have found the lessons on the different forums to be invaluable. Trying to figure this stuff out is exhausting to say the least.
