Title: buried my high functioning BPD sister in law today aged 55
Post by: Calm Waters on January 27, 2015, 06:30:41 PM
My sister in law was probably the most damaged BPD I have ever met, originally she was married to my best friend and their terrible divorce and the colateral damage drove a wedge through the family. She developed stage 4 cancer 7 years ago and died 2 weeks ago buried today. Her legacy is yet to pan out but I expect some suprises still from her second husband who adored her to the last, they were together 10 years, she virtually reinvented herself to keep him and kept her BPD tendancies very well hidden from him having learned from the mistakes of the first marriage. The funeral was invitation only! my best friend who has 3 daughters by her was not invited and none of her friends from before the reinvention of herself were welcome. I am glad she is at peace her pain and suffering at the end were extreme and in a strange way her BPD allowed her ti almost deny the reality of her iminent demise and she was very happy in her final years - actually inspirational.

Both of my sons are displaying BPD tendencies, if you read my other posts you will see what a nightmare of issues I am dealing with. Anyway RIP my sister in law.

What a complex loss, Calm Waters. I hope your friend is able to navigate the difficult terrain as his daughters deal with the loss of their mother--which was probably a difficult relationship to say the least.

wishing you peace,
