Title: We desperately need help
Post by: sandrasquared on February 10, 2015, 10:09:50 AM
We have a daughter who has been in the mental health system for over 2 yrs with a variety of diagnosis that never felt right. We have endured hospital visits for attempted suicide (4 times), family counselling, individual counselling. My daughter has told every counsellor she encounters that I physically abuse her which leads to family and children services at my door threatening to remove my youngest child. My daughter feels no remorse for the lies or the upset. She recently has been diagnosed with borderline personality traits and we are on a up to 7 month waiting list for treatment for her. She has also been referred to Macmaster for an eating disorder clinic because she tells the doctors that she does not eat anything, which is a total fabrication she eats everything. The doctors don't even want to listen to me, they always defer to my daughter and what she says.  Can anyone suggest any help or resources while we are in this waiting period.

Thank You

It's amazing that it seems like people with BPD have such a strong tendency to falsely allege abuse, including physically abuse.  My BPDex-fiancee told of being physically abused by her father, but for a variety of reasons this didn't really add up.  And I have read countless stories of such false allegations on here.  In my opinion, it is unfortunate that there's not more public awareness of BPD, especially among doctors!  Perhaps you need to politely instruct some of these doctors on BPD or even provide them with resources that explain BPD and this particular dynamic of false allegations.

What has happened with child protective services in the past?  Are they investigating or just making obligatory checks based on accusations?

I know this has to be horrible feeling.  False allegations are tough.
