Title: How can I trust anyone? Post by: isshebpd on March 04, 2015, 01:56:43 AM Along with my PD family members, I've dealt with all manner of difficult people in my life, especially when I was young. Rotten friends, bad employers and negligent landlords; to name a few. This one takes the cake.
A few years ago, I agreed to sit on a volunteer governing board of a local NGO/non-profit. It is a community institution. I just started my fourth and last year and things blew up. Based on the wide variety of "irregularities", the 6-figure CEO appears to be some sort of narcissistic sociopath. The level of potential scandal is mind-blowing. I just don't know how to process all of this. It was not what I expected when I agreed to this, my first time on a volunteer board. The worst part is I can't even discuss it with anyone because I'm sworn to secrecy about the information. An investigation is beginning. I can't talk to anyone in my life about this, and it's leaving me twisting alone in my thoughts and emotions. However, I am glad I know more about personality disorders than I did a couple of years ago. Title: Re: How can I trust anyone? Post by: Kwamina on March 04, 2015, 07:39:45 AM Hi issheBPD
Based on the wide variety of "irregularities", the 6-figure CEO appears to be some sort of narcissistic sociopath. ... . However, I am glad I know more about personality disorders than I did a couple of years ago. Do you feel like the knowledge you have now about personality disorders makes it easier for you to deal with this new situation? How have your own interactions been with this CEO you describe as some sort of 'narcissistic sociopath'? Do you feel like the skills you've acquired here have made it easier for you to deal with this CEO or at least made it easier to understand what's going on here? |
