What is the best way to export messages from iphone?

I am using an Android, but I am running software that forwards every text message to my Gmail account.  I imagine that something equivalent is available for the Iphone.

There is an android app that compresses entire conversations and mails them to you in reader friendly format. It's some sort of text message "backup" but this will serve the purpose you are looking for.

I also had to do this in relation to the BPDX to outline her non-stop harrasment, threats and ridicule while she was telling the police she was afraid of me and having me arrested.

Yes my ex also told me he is afraid of me because i filed for order of protection. Yet every time I pick up my phone he insults me calling me a whore and white trash because he is fixated on something that's not even true. He also sends me way too many messages for me to be taking pictures of them constantly. I was hoping to get something that would make it easier to show full conversation with dates.

I actually got that app but could not get it to work on my computer. I'm not sure what Im doing wrong and their customer support never replied to my email.

No, I have PC now. I used to have Mac but i did not like the Word version on it and I use ity a lot for work. I though it worked for PCs too.

Same thing happened here. And it's happening again now.

You can take a screenshot by pressing the home button and the power button at the same time. If it is a long conversation, that is a lot of screenshots. The screenshots will show up in your photos, which can be exported like any other pic you took.

I literally just bought a new app called phone view. ($29.99) and it is WELL worth it. Expensive but nice. The texts can be printed it out exactly like they appear on your iPhone.

I used to use an app called decipher text message ($9.99) but the printed out version of what is on your iPhone looks like crap and uninteresting. 

GK's suggestion of taking screen shots was my first thought. I have an S3.  I've done this to send to people to get feedback on more than a few conversations. This article (though 2 years old) sums up your options with an iPhone:

Screen shots are a great idea. But the only draw back is printing them out for documentation purposes. It has been my experience that an iPhone screen shot will print out a HUGE page that takes up a whole crap load of ink.

You can always resize if need be (Photoshop, Photo Elements,.or another imaging program), and adjust resolution to account for the resizing. I think spending the money on an app is money well spent if the data goes to court as evidence, though.

I have both PC and Mac, for this App I only used it with Mac.  Not sure why it won't work for PC.

Do you think courts will accept it as evidence? He accuses me of altering texts from him to make it more favorable to me!

Yes, I tried that and they did come out huge.

My court accepted my text messages as evidence.

I ended up buying an iPhone for the sole purpose of exporting texts. Phoneview actually prints out the way the texts look on the phone -- it's as though the judge is seeing them on the screen, time-stamped and in chronological order. Every time I plugged the phone in to my computer, the texts were backed up, as well as every voice mail message. You can then save the pages of texts as a PDF and print it out. I printed out hundreds of pages and then my L flagged the ones she wanted to use. In one of our hearings she had me read through dozens of them and then she would ask me how I felt when i received those texts.

I found the Android versions were too awkward to use and one of them dumped things out into a spreadsheet, and that didn't look credible. The volume that I was getting was too high to be fiddling all the time with the program.

The iPhone I got was $25 off a neighborhood listserv -- it was an older version, and I had to find one that was compatible with my provider. But for less than $50, I ended up with an excellent way to document the abusive text messages and it was worth it.

I watched my judge read the texts in court and it mattered to me that it wasn't confusing or cumbersome to try and make sense of what he was looking at.

Does Phone View also export pictures? That would be helpful and totally worth the investment.

Also, I was looking for an online journalling tool that you can later print or export. Does anyone use anything like that? I just talked to a lawyer I may retain and she said that the more information i have the better and a journal would be great.

I used an andriod app called "SMSBackup".  It was a free download from the google play store.

It will archive copies of texts to a GMAIL account.  It creates new folders in the GMAIL account for each sender, up to 100 emails per folder, then creates another new folder.  This helps keep things indexed by date.  For printing, GMAIL has a utility that allows you to print them all in one big long string per folder.  My L went nuts about how good the setup was for archiving and printing texts.  

I believe you can set it for automatic or manually only when you tell it to do the backups.

If I remember correctly, PhoneView will print out your text messages and photos in chronological order. In my version, the PDF looks exactly the way things show up on the screen.

It also displays any photos on your phone. But you still have to back them up. PhoneView is just a way to view things, so you have to take an extra step to save them. I saved everything (easy to do) in two places just in case. Computer, and thumb drive.

For journaling, I set up a Google calendar, and used that to keep track of things. When I was ready, I just printed it out as an agenda. Every small thing that seemed noteworthy, I added it to the calendar. I also pinned my ex's email to the dates he sent them, but I'm not sure if that feature no longer exists. I went to go look how I set things up like that, and can't figure out how to do it anymore.
