Welcome. Sorry that you are experiencing this. Can you share a little of your situation and what you know about BPD? Many with BPD refuse treatment, by the way. Was she diagnosed?

Thanks for your reply, she been to 3 psychiatrists, 4 Psycologists, one year with last Psycologist but they did not give DBT, just talked. And she won't let us go with her.

Sorry again. It seems all too common. Are there BPD/DBT specialists in your area?

She lives at her school , but I had to bring her home she cuts herself , no one wrote BPD diagnosis for her , these psychiatrist s and Psycologists charged cash .shes home very frustrated, she's always angry . Went to Psycologist twice but did not go to psychiatrist appt. She has depression and anxiety. Almost out of meds but won't go to doctor

I do not know of any therapists in northern California. Have you tried www.m.therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/ (http://www.m.therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/)?

Have you had a chance to read any of the lessons on this website, particularly lessons on communication with someone living with BPD?

Hi barbara15,

Finding the right kind of therapy and then the right "fit" of a therapist can be very challenging... .on top of all the other challenges we face.

For a list of properly trained DBT therapists in your state one  resource is behavioraltech.org (http://www.behavioraltech.org/index.cfm)

They have a resource directory listing therapists by state, city, type of therapy (in/out patient), comorbid disorders treated.

I hope you can find some options that will best help your daughter.

barbara15,

I'm sorry that you are going through this. It's very tough to navigate what we know someone needs (treatment, and hopefully healing) with the fact that someone else is an independent person with a stubborn free will. If you're in Nor-Cal, have you looked into resources at the UC Davis Med center?

www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/children/clinical_services/CAARE/dialectical_bt.html

If you haven't, do you think you can call or contact them to explore options? If she's 21 or under, she would qualify for their program. If not, then they could probably refer you to adult services in your area.
