Title: Timeline Tool Post by: Sunfl0wer on April 03, 2015, 01:05:02 PM (Hopefully this post is in the correct section)
I thought I'd share this tool I found: www.blogs.psychcentral.com/relationships/2012/04/the-power-of-creating-a-timeline-of-your-lifes-story/ "A timeline or lifeline exercise is a grid that allows you to have a bird’s eye view of your life, and to see the positive and negative shifts along the way on a single trajectory. Even more, it can be a tool to make conscious self-directed changes that, literally, rewire your brain to heal itself. Known as plasticity, your brain has an innate capacity to make changes in positive, healing directions. Like other tools, you need to know it’s there to access, and how to use it. Everyone has a unique timeline. It consists of a series of events, trends and turns that culminate in producing cycles of positive and negative shifts, highs and lows in the course of a lifetime from birth." This came up for me because I have an appointment for a initial T session next week. The cost of this is a luxury for me, and I will not be able to afford ongoing Tx. So I was thinking up and looking for ways to get the most out of my session by preparing some info to share, or at least it will help me to organize my own thinking to communicate clearly. (feel free to share other tips like this if it occurs to you :) ) Title: Re: Timeline Tool Post by: Pingo on April 03, 2015, 03:00:28 PM Wow Sunflower, this is fantastic! I have done a tremendous amount of reading the past year and a half and so many books talk about the power of one's story and how important it is to integrate all of our story into our lives. So I think this is a great tool!
Funny, just a couple of weeks ago I read something on fb (It was Elizabeth Gilbert's page) about finding the positive moments in your life, times when you accomplished something or loved someone or had kindness shown to you, etc and use them as a life raft... .I found this very helpful to write down some of the things that has happened throughout my life as I had been in a real funk where I felt like I had wasted so many years getting no where and was quite depressed about it. This exercise reminded me that I have had lots of great experiences and lots of richness in my life. It has not been a waste. It also reminded me of things I had forgot about. It really has shifted my attitude so I will look forward to doing this exercise also! So glad you are getting to see a T. I saw one every other week most of last year up until a month ago. My visa took a hit big time! Now I have put it on hold and I'm getting massage every other week instead as I want to do more body work and see how that helps in my healing. So far really good! |
