Title: He is the Borderline Personality
Post by: willemina on June 26, 2015, 09:29:35 PM
Most articles I have been reading over the past month have all had examples of BPD are women. Can it be men? My situation is my boyfriend, and I just read all these stages and I was shocked how rather accurate this was.

Hello willemina,

*welcome*

There used to be a gender bias towards diagnosing women more with BPD, but it's now realized that about the same number of men suffer from it as well. The confusion used to lie in the differences in behaviors, but the core symptoms are the same (emotional dysregulation/in appropriate anger, identity issues, unstable relationships, self-harm, etc.).

What specific issues are you struggling with? Do you feel safe, or are you dealing more with emotional and communication struggles?
