My daughter, 13, was diagnosed with BPD within the last couple of months. To finally have a diagnosis brought a sense of hope to me for a short time. I think it did for her as well. Unfortunately, since her brother left for boot camp she has lost all progress she had made. Hoping to learn from others' experiences. Title: Re: New member. BPD is quite challenging disorder. Doctors are often reluctant to diagnose children this young with BPD, but the fact that she has been, does make it clearer what you are dealing with. Is she getting any targeted treatment for her BPD? What led up to your daughter getting diagnosed? What would you say are her behaviors that you find the most troubling or difficult to deal with? To help you get started here, I suggest you take a look at the tools and lessons to the right of this message board. I'd like to join Kwamina in welcoming you to the site. My daughter was diagnosed "emerging BPD, ODD, MDD" at age 12. She's 18 now, lives on her own, registered today for college and is doing ok... .there is hope. My daughter lost her Dad in Nov. 2013 and managed to hold it together with support from her family, therapy, and the skills she learned along the way. I look forward to learning more about you and your daughter and helping you where able. lbj |
