Title: Fragile Adult child who is suicidal Post by: Squire58 on August 12, 2015, 10:23:30 PM I am grateful for a place to go with this. It is challenging finding others with compassion for this crisis with my daughter. One friend recently said goodbye because my daughter is visiting for a short time, and I had to cancel plans with her. It has been a roller-coaster year. I am not interested in blaming, but I do understand certain influences, and behaviors have not helped my daughters interests at all. I am at a loss of what to do. She has been hospitalized for suicidal tendencies four or five times in the last two years.
I look forward to picking up some nuggets to help me be the person I need to be. So far, I have mostly been really straightforward with her, and she hates it, gets defensive, and responds with hostility. Accountability is not her favorite word, but she can dish it out like nobody's business. She always re-focuses on someone else, her dad does the same thing. Ugh! I have been worn out from all of this. Going on for a very long time now. I am so sorry that you are going through this tough situation. Suicidal tendencies and attempts are heart wrenching and hurtful to anybody that loves the person going through it. Has your daughter been diagnosed? How old is she? What if any types of treatment has she received? I am not trying to hammer you with nosy questions, but the more information you provide, the better able other parents are to help you. We have all gone through some bad stuff, we all love a BPD child, and have all struggled or are still struggling, with communication and life with these children. Some of the children are quite young, and some are way into adult hood. Each situation is unique to that family, but similar, in that we are all experiencing BPD, and we all have had to suffer and sacrifice in some way. Please continue to post and give us information so we are better able to help you. Take care new friend |
