I don't know the legal way of doing things but it doesn't surprise me that both of you have been asked as the Judge cannot show bias. By only asking one of you it could be deemed he had already made his mind up so his final decision could be called into question. That you are both to have psych evals is standard, the problem is how meaningful they may be. Make sure you get experts or investigators as reputable and unbiased as you can, as there is a certain amount of concern that some deference or minimizing could be given to a fellow professional or local resident. Perhaps that's why the social enquiry is ordered too, to go beyond dry psych results and dig into the impact on the children.

My L asked for psych eval and explained in length (in the report) why BPDx shows signs of mental illness. So yes one expertise would have been enough lol. In fact, if that can allow me to explain things, then it's rather positive. I think a therapist needs to hear both versions to make up his mind. I don't get to chose anything here in France Regarding the social enquiry, although I have absolutely nothing to hide, I'd potentially have more at stake than he would. I have the kids with me, so they'd need to inspect my house etc. Whereas he lives in a tiny apartment I have no doubt his family will make sure it is 100% safe and so on. I'm not at all worried about his apartment regarding my son, but about his crazy mood swings and rage outbursts. |
