Title: How long does it take to be served a supoena? Post by: Auslaunder on September 23, 2015, 11:23:24 AM This might be a little a off topic, but my BPDf claimed I would be served a supoena due to his lawsuit. It's been about 2 months and I haven't received it. Shouled I assume he lied?

He may have been trying to weaken your boundary not to lie in the legal papers he wants. One secret in maintaining boundaries is to make your decision once and then stick with the boundary. You don't have to decide all over again every time he pushes and pressures. While you always have the option to review your prior decisions, don't feel you have to do it at his every demand. It is your life, you are an adult, be empowered going forward.
I'm not a lawyer but does he have to file copies of the subpoenas with the court before serving them? If you know his court and case number you could go to the court or its website and try to find out whether he filed any subpoenas. Title: Re: How long does it take to be served a supoena? Post by: Auslaunder on September 24, 2015, 01:39:40 PM Oh, no. I should have explained. He has sued my former employer not myself. He said my employer was sending me a supoena as a defense witness against him. I think he was trying to manipulate me to give a deposition using his lawyer by making up this unlikely scenario.

So I would say it depends when the person/business making the request gets the supoena to the process server to deliver. I don't know your situation but can you just ask your employer if they intend to supoena you? Panda39 |
