Title: New member intro Post by: SuperGrover on November 19, 2015, 04:22:17 PM My child, who's now a young adult and living on her own with a friend, has been diagnosed with BPD. To help her through some tough challenges in her early teens we participated in DBT and other counseling support modalities. I'm reaching out to this community to cope ahead by building a network of friends who've been through similar experiences and have similar concerns for their loved one who's struggling with BPD. You are in the right place if you are looking for compadres who are trying to figure out how to deal with and communicate with their BPD children *) I think it's great that you have participated in programs for learning DBT and other skills to learn how to help your daughter. You will find some helpful material for further information at the links to the right-hand side of this page that will complement what you've already learned. The support I've found on this site since I found it in April of 2013 (when my own adult son was diagnosed with BPD) has been instrumental in my family's healing, and even in my son's recovery from his troubles... .I'm so glad you've found us! My d24 was diagnosed as a teen and we did DBT for a year. Somehow I lost all of those skills when things went from bad to worse. Since I found this website, I have been practicing validation and also keeping my mouth shut! It seems to be helping. The best thing I have found is the emotional support and suggestions from others here.
