Title: BPD Diagnosis question
Post by: trilen on November 19, 2015, 04:34:57 PM
Wondering if anyone can give me insight.

My BPDex has been diagnosed by a psychiatrist and her entire family is aware she has BPD. She admitted it once in therapy after a lot of work from our therapist. I only knew the last 5 months of our 2yr8mo relationship about the diagnosis, although I knew something was not right early on...

Since then, she has retracted it to me and says she only has one or 2 BPD traits. (she has most). I was very open to working on this with her, but obviously couldn't since she wouldn't talk to me at all about it.

Why are some BPD's so open about it and some will completely deny it even after a clinical diagnosis?

My guesses would be core shame and fear of intimacy.
