Title: I feel like I'm going crazy
Post by: Sharc on November 29, 2015, 07:21:50 PM
Hello! I am so glad I have found you! I am constantly reading about BPD and all I ever seem to read is how they shouldn't apologize for their illness and how their loved ones need to care more, love them more, help them more and understand them more. So I have been forgiving, understanding, loving and caring to a fault. I can only describe my relationship as a rollercoaster. I am treated like a princess and everything is perfect and then boom! I am yelled at, blamed, verbally abused, my last is thrown in my face and I'm left in a pile of tears feeling awful, lonely, lower than ever and its driving me insane. I want to help him. He has began the process to get help, he had no idea he had BPD, I actually figured it out just by reading.

No ones knows: I have no one to talk to, I can't tell my friends or my family, what will they think of me, of him? So thanks for reading, I know I'll get so much out of this site and its great to meet others going through similar circumstances. :)

*welcome*

People with BPD have harmfully intense emotions and poor or maladaptive coping skills to try and handle them.   The disorder creates chaos in their closest relationships.

You will find there are tools and skills you can learn HERE (https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=56206.0) that will help you.

It's good that your BF has begun the process of getting help and is receptive too the idea.   The process of therapy is difficult for anyone and can be challenging.   How long has he been getting help?

Please keep posting and keep reading.   Sharing our stories, just the process of writing out what we are going through helps relieve stress.

Glad to see you have found us. It is admirable that you want to help him, and that he is willing to do the work to help himself.

What you will learn here is not to give yourself over to the Disorder, it does not take priority over looking after yourself. If you are driving yourself nuts you are no good to anyone else.

You are right no one understands BPD unless they live and breath it, and trying to seek help and support can cause despair. It is one of those "hidden" disorders

You will learn a lot about yourself in the process

Welcome to the group! It's so freeing to be able to talk about it to someone. It's reaffirming to share and have others know what you are going through. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
