What would you like to know? Title: Re: Therapeutic Boarding Schools Post by: bpdmom1 on January 04, 2016, 04:06:55 PM Yes, very happy with the one my daughter is currently attending.
Title: Re: Therapeutic Boarding Schools Post by: TimPat on January 04, 2016, 04:25:15 PM Do you mind sharing the name of the school? Did you utilize an Educational consultant?
Title: Re: Therapeutic Boarding Schools Post by: lbjnltx on January 04, 2016, 04:36:35 PM My daughter attended Falcon Ridge Ranch in Virgin Utah and no, I did not us an EC. I did all the research, vetting, evaluations, and visits myself.
Her entire visit (10 months) is chronicled here as a "case study" if you are interested in reading it. https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=120563 Title: Re: Therapeutic Boarding Schools Post by: bpdmom1 on January 14, 2016, 08:52:37 PM We used an educational consultant. We are very glad we did as the options we had researched on our own wouldn't have worked out as well. She is attending Spring Ridge Academy.

Title: Re: Therapeutic Boarding Schools Post by: Jae on January 25, 2016, 03:38:38 PM We used an EC for our 16-17 year old daughter. She recommended La Europa, Solstice, and New Haven. We found Solstice too constraining and behavioral modification-based and did not resonate with the therapist. We selected La Europa due to arts-based therapy and DBT. After two months LEA instituted a points-based system that did not help our daughter. She is now at New Haven. One of the girls who was transitioning back home after completing the NH program told me "all the other places I have been taught me DBT and skills to deal with my problems. New Haven fixed my problem--I don't have it any more." They are going through some changes due to impact of opening another campus that is more remote but still the core focus on relationships and family has been tremendous. We as parents feel like partners in the process. They have helped our family overall. However, it is much more family commitment than some of the other programs which are more of the "your daughter has made bad choices/is broken and we are going to fix her." At first that intimidated us but now we are thankful.
