Title: Support for those with BPD
Post by: wundress on January 06, 2016, 10:37:56 AM
Does anyone know of any resources or support groups suitable for those with BPD?

My wife has accepted her diagnosis but is struggling to understand what it is all about. She's dyslexic so reading large amounts of information is out of the question. She has already been on the NICE and MIND websites which are the main ones over here in the UK.

Hello wundress,

We are in the UK, Mind are very good, would she consider contacting your local Mind centre who could also talk to her or maybe put her in contact with others who have BPD. Mind has Drop-In coffee shops where we are that are staff run, but for pw mental health issues to come and chat. They are open to SO's as well.

Have you thought of watching videos on Youtube around the subject, there are plenty out there?

Contact your GP or local Community Mental Health Team they should also be able to signpost her and offer suggestions and resources.

Thank you!

Unfortunately in our county Mind are basically non-existent. Their office is hardly ever open and they don't run any courses.

She has seen the mental health team but again, they are rubbish and don't really run any courses. I think it's a particular problem in Wales as there is very little funding for mental health services.
