Title: Fun valentines story..get ready to smile
Post by: formflier on February 15, 2016, 10:03:13 AM

So, sometimes a good event makes a memory in the middle of all the BPDish stuff.

S15 has a girlfriend so of course he wants to take her out for V day.  My wife drops him off and her parents dropped her off at the eating establishment.  They didn't meet then.

Wife and I go back when he texted it was over.  S15 is pretty close to the way I did things, yep, I've been giving him advice for years, he rolls his eyes.  Anyway we pull in and make a quip about wondering if those are her parents in the car next to us.

Well, in the midst of a snow storm the window in that car rolls down and the lady waves, so we roll our window down.  She says, we're the other parents!  The Dad is in their as well.  So, we start having a rip roaring fun conversation and then see my son and their daughter walking toward us.  He has box of chocolates and flower in vase (I'm guessing he had it on table during dinner).

Anway, the look of horror on his face was priceless as he (and she) gets what is going down in parking lot.  So, they come and are saying their goodbyes in the space in between the two cars.  They are both doing their best to ignore us, we are grinning like there is no tomorrow.

It's time for a kiss, hug or whatever (remember, parents a couple feet away, grinning ) and her mom leans out the window and delivers the best line I have ever heard to embarrass teenagers.

She says, "So, you guys gonna do this thing or what?"  All parents start laughing, my son gives her a nice big but respectable hug and they get in their cars.

His face was beat red, but couldn't get the smile off his face either, he really likes this girl.  It's obvious she likes him.

Making memories is fun!

That's a cute story. Reminds me of a line from the recent country song: "you gonna kiss me, or not". If that would have happened with either of my kids, I'd have caught heck from them after they got in the car. Seriously, I'm now seeing that of everyone I've ever lived with, my parents, and one boyfriend were the only easy going people I've been around. Dad has some anger issues, but it wasn't daily.

I'm glad you are still able to have some good times, and enjoy your kids. I love my kids, but I feel they are going to have much harder lives, due to my ex. He wasn't PD, but he had huge anger issues, that they clearly inherited. I often fear for their future mates if they don't get it under control. I've lived that, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone(well, maybe a few people... .lol).

I have a 15 year old step son who has his first serious gf. Thanks for the smile - we haven't had the chance to embarrass him... .yet!
