But when my ex gf and I did a few things recently (concert, dinner, four day trip to biltmore and to see her kids, then a musical and local B & B, she's not wanting her circle of people to know about it. Is that common?

As trying said, she probably painted you black so bad to them that she would be questioned by them, thus making her feel shame for it. None of us can say for sure why, only theories.
Using your situation as a scenario, J wouldn't want anyone to know because I wasn't the 'primary' bf, so she would want to keep our r/s hidden for that reason. I'm not saying yours is the same way. I'm just drawing on a theoretical 'why' from my experience. That's all. |
