The DSM manual has a list of criteria for diagnosing each, but it really doesn't matter: if you're not happy, get out while you can.

Well said. The DSM-V diagnostic manual lists criteria as guidelines for clinicians to make a diagnosis.  It had been my experience that axis II disorders (DSM IV-R) are significantly under diagnosed.

What really matters for you is the gut feeling you get since you probably have a truer picture of the individual than any clinician.

Always, always, always... .Trust your instincts.

Gregg hi,

And welcome to BPD Family

I've read your other post and am sorry for what brought you here. But I'm glad that you are reaching out for support. Here, you can find many experiences that similar to your own, find validation and also educate yourself of BPD, which ultimately helps you to make sense of your situation. As others say, it's very helpful to recognize what your gut is saying to as well.

The link below can give you an idea about BPD. And yes, it can co-exist with other disorders as well.

But as important as this, how are you feeling right now? Are you still together with your girl friend, or have you split up recently?

Please keep posting and share your story when you have the motivation so that we can support you better.

Hang in there
