Title: Reading Recommendation for daughters of BPD mothers
Post by: Shalaidah on April 03, 2016, 02:12:50 PM
Hi all!

I recently read a book called The First Time She Drowned by Kerry Kletter and I wanted to share it with this group. It follows the relationship between a daughter and her toxic mother who is most likely borderline/narcissistic and how the daughter comes to accept that the problems she has with her mother are not her fault. As a daughter of a borderline mother I identified very much with this book and wanted to recommend it to others who might it helpful and/or cathartic.

Happy Reading!

Thank you, I'll look that up at the library.

Hi Shalaidah

It's been a long time since you were last online here. Welcome back! :)

How are things with you? Since you too are the daughter of a BPD mother, I can understand why you could relate so much to this book. Learning that things aren't your fault and accepting that you cannot solve or fix another person if that person doesn't want to change, are two very important insights.

Take care and thanks for sharing this book with us

Hi Shalaidah,

Thanks for this, the book sounds good. Have you been doing other things to heal or just focusing on the book ?
